Short-Term Disability Insurance

Short-Term Disability Insurance will pay a percentage of your wage if you are unable to work due to sickness or injury (excluding injuries that occur at work; that is covered by worker’s compensation insurance).
There are three main features of Short-Term Disability Insurance that effect premiums and claims:
-
Elimination Period – The number of days until claim payments begin. Can be considered a deductible but in terms of time instead of money.
-
Benefit Period – The amount of time claim payments will last.
-
Monthly Benefit – The amount of money the claim pays monthly.
